Are you expecting to be visited by a Christmas Elf? Whether it's your first experience with a rascal elf or you're in your 4th year like me, here are 22 completely unusual tricks to do with your Christmas elf!
The elf chase begins around December 1st. Make sure to have fun with your elf chase! It doesn’t matter whether or not you catch one on your first try! In our case, it took 2 days before catching an elf, but to our surprise, we caught 2 !!! Oh no! Twice as much trouble awaits us!
Don’t forget ... the little elves freeze in daylight and are active at night, so all tricks must be executed once the children are asleep!
1. FIRST NIGHT OF HUNTING THE PUCKISH ELVES
The first night is always an introduction and presentation night. This year, our smart elves decided to introduce themselves by making angels in the flour and writing their name in it! Small tip: flour is not that easy to clean off, so make sure you don’t put too much. As an alternative, you can use rice. They even wrote us a little word asking us where the snow had gone!
2. SMALL THREAT FROM YOUR NEW ROOMMATES
Oh dear! Cookie and his companion didn’t hold their tongue! I think they were not happy with our welcome, as we did not have any biscuits to offer them. So they decided to go on a strike and threaten us to leave if we did not make cookies for them! They even brought out all the ingredients for their favorite cookie recipe!
3. THE THANK YOU LETTER
In order to thank us for the pastries, which they have all eaten, Doodle and Cookie wrote us a small thank you! Our dynamic and colorful duo could not help but continue to do silly things with the rest of the Smarties.
4. A BEAUTIFUL GIFT FROM OUR ELVES
We had made our beautiful Christmas tree but the star we wanted to use to crown the tree was broken. Our smart elves gave us a beautiful gift for the family: a new crown for our tree! When they woke up, the children were so happy!
5. A NEW CHECKERS GAME
Our clever elves really love to play together! They searched our do-it-yourself box in our wardrobe and improvised a beautiful Checkers game adapted to the holiday season!
6. INDOOR SLIDE
It’s not snowing outside (yet), but that does not prevent our little Santa’s helpers from improvising a mountain and a sledge. Cookie and Doodle used paper towels and a board game box to slide and have fun! Luckily, there were no injuries ... it's still a dangerous game! Of course when I woke up, I told the children not to try !!!
7. THE PYRAMID
Fortunately, I am not too fussy when it comes to housekeeping! I am telling you, these rascal elves have more than one trick up their sleeves! I don’t know if Santa has an award for the smartest elves? Here are our little elves in action! The pyramid is almost as high as our Christmas tree!
8. OUR CREATIVE SANTA’S LITTLE HELPERS
I suspect Doodle was the one who convinced Cookie to participate in this artistic demonstration. Our creative elves went to dig into our emergency kit to find some ear picks and gave us a beautiful fresco of snowflakes! I think there might just not be enough snow outside for our little teases! They are missing North Pole!
9. BEAUTIFUL DECORATIONS
You are better off not leaving anything on the floor at home with those two merry elves in your house. After packing some gifts for my children’s teachers, I inadvertently left some decorative bows out. It was not long before Cookie and Doodle grabbed the ribbons and decorated our kitchen. In the morning, Zoe was so amazed by this decoration!
10. BATH TIME!
Our clever elves have now been with us for more than 10 days now and the children were wondering if their new little companions had to take a shower! And our question was answered when we saw our little friends in a marshmallow bath.
11. SMALL “SHOE TRAIN”
This clever trick made me realize that we have many, many, many shoes! The elves were able to make a line from the front door to the back of the living room. I also think that Cookie and Doodle tried all our shoes because there were several pictures of them in different pairs of shoes!
12. FULLY STOCKED CHRISTMAS SOCKS
Our little elves really love to pull tricks, but they are also very generous! This morning we were all surprised to see that William, Nathan and Zoe had a small gift in their stocking. Our little friends surely know how to feed the Christmas spirit! This thought of kindness certainly made my darlings happy.
13. LET’S GO SKIING
Yesterday we went to rent some skiing equipment for the kids. They were super excited and wanted to show their new skiing gear to their father. We organized the entire skiing gear in a room in the basement. To our surprise, the elves brought all the skiing gear back out and did a test run overnight!
14. CANDY CANE MESSAGES
Our little rascals have more than one bag of tricks! They like to make a mess, but they also like to write us small messages in all kinds of ways! Do you think they are missing Santa Claus!
15. POPCORN AND MOVIE
Today was really cold outside. An icy cold that does not make you want to do anything other than being cuddled on the couch! Well, even if they live in the North Pole, we must believe that our little friends are also affected by the cold! Popcorn and cuddling were in order for our little elves!
16. EXTREMELY TALENTED ELVES
Cookie and Doodle made a nice surprise for the children. They drew and color three personalized elves for everyone! The kids imagined themselves to be one of Santa’s little helpers all day long!
17. MORE GIFTS!
These generous little elves really spoil our children with gifts and love! This morning, they woke up with a little gift each from our new tenants! However there is one thing I do not understand ... how do they manage to make so much a mess ?
Alright! We got the point, there is not enough snow to go play outside! Cookie and Doodle have improvised snowmen in the kitchen! Construction paper hat, mini carrot for the nose and candy canes, and there you go!
19. IT’S RAINING... PAPER TOWELS
Is it subliminal or are the elves looking forward to returning to the Great North? And here we are, waking up to an all-white living room!
20. PARTY WITH THE DOLLS
It is their day before the last among us and our joyful tenants have decided to make a small farewell party! Cookie and Doodle gathered all the dolls and offered each one a super bright necklace!
21. OUR ELVES PREPARED US A NEW GAME!
We woke up and there was a nice set up for a family game! Obviously, there were instructions left by Doodle. We immediately played and seriously, this is the most fun game we played so far. The kids laughed and we all had a lot of fun!
Game Set Up:
- Take 2 chairs and stretch them from either side of the living room.
- Install a tight rope from one chair to the other.
- On the rope, hang a few candy canes.
- Have a large plastic bowl.
- If your chairs are light, ensure that you put some weight on them so the rope holds well.
How to Play:
- This game is played one child at a time.
- The child who plays puts his hands behind his back and must unhook the candy canes without touching them with their hands.
- Another child must follow him so that the canes are placed in the large bowl.
- Time the game. Each game round lasts 30 seconds.
- The child who picks up the most candy canes wins!
This game is also great for parents! 100% fun guaranteed!
22. GOODBYE LETTER
It's already the last day! Our little friends leave us this evening with the arrival of Santa Claus! Zoe gives her last hugs before going to bed. Our charming, energetic and creative little elves wrote us a beautiful farewell letter. They sat next to the snacks we had left for Santa Claus and his reindeers. With a box of handkerchief not so far away, they wrote us their farewells! We had memorable moments with our little elves and we will not forget them so soon!
