Do you need some ideas for tricks to do with your elf on a shelf? You are at the right place! I will give you ideas for every day spent with your special elf. As you probably already know, elves stop moving as soon as someone looks at them, and as soon as they see the light of the day. And our little silly friends spend their nights doing tricks around the house.
Here are 24 ideas for fun ideas and creative tricks to do with your Christmas elf!
1. GETTING TO KNOW YOUR ELF
When you receive the visit from an Elf, the children will have a thousand and one questions. That is why on the first night, the children should write their questions so that your new friend can answer them during the night. Obviously our Elf Cookie could not resist making a mess with the kids’ pencil cases!
2. YOUR ELF GETS TO KNOW THE OTHER TOYS IN THE HOUSE
It’s also important for a Christmas Elf to feel welcomed in the house where he will live for the whole month of December. To get to know the other toys, our little rascal Cookie organized a big party for all the toys of the house! I don’t know how we did not wake-up with all that noise!
3. OUR ELF COOKIE PREPARES BREAKFAST FOR THE KIDS
It’s in an Elf’s nature to do bad tricks. Sometimes though, they feel bad and try to make up for it by being nice and helping around the house! In our case, Cookie made breakfast for the kids. Cookie even wrote us a letter to apologize for the mess he made with the pencils!
4. A SICK LITTLE ELF
Elves live in the North Pole where it is very cold, but this does not prevent them from catching a cold. Here’s our little Elf very sick and weak. Luciky, that our pharmacy is well stocked!
5. ANOTHER NIGHT IN BED
Cookie definitely had a man’s cold! He stayed quiet in bed for another night! OUF! Not easy at all, particularly during the holidays. Poor Cookie! Get well soon!
6. THE FAMOUS TOILET PAPER TRICK
Happy to see that Cookie is feeling better and back to being his old self again! Unfortunately, all the kleenex from blowing his nose gave him a silly idea. Our whole living room is covered in toilet paper!
7. DRAWING ON THE KIDS’ PICTURES
Cookie thinks he is a monkey! He climbs everywhere, even on our picture frames. He added moustaches to our photos. Luckily, he used dry erase crayons!
8. BOARD GAMES
Elves don’t know how to stand still and not do anything! What's more fun than a night spent playing board games with his friends! Obviously, it will still be necessary to teach Cookie how to put the games away after playing!
9. THE GREEN-AND-RED PIMPLES
Oh dear! There is a secret illness in the North Pole that is very dangerous for the elves and Cookie has contaminated the children with it! It’s the green-and-red pimples illness. We are lucky it’s not dangerous for human children!
10. THE TOILET BOWL
Little Elves are very handy and never run out of inspiration or imagination. Cookie reveals his artistic talents by gift wrapping our toilet bowl!
11. THE SOLDIER’S WAR
Since we are a busy family, I did not have time to undo Cookie’s gift wrapping of the toilet bowl. Tonight, Cookie had the great idea to block access to our 1st floor bathroom as well. The soldiers were not very happy. There is a waiting line for the bathroom as far as the eye can see. The soldiers sent out a clear message the they were not going to leave things as is!There will be a rebellion ...
12. THE SOLDIERS’ REVENGE
I think our little Elf picked the wrong toys for his silly tricks! The soldiers gave Cookie a hard time! Even Super Mario characters played along!
13. STORY TIME
Although elves are known for their tease and tricks, they are also little beings who care about the wellbeing of others around them. Our elf took the time to be there for Zoe’s babies. Storytime was a huge success amongst the babies!
14. OUR CHRISTMAS ELF MISSES SANTA
Although they work very hard in Santa's workshop, the elves are a big family and receive a lot of love from Santa Claus. Sometimes, they get sad when they have been away from home for a long time. Cookie was so sad that he collected all the items that made him think of Santa and cried a little bit. He even wrote a letter to the children to explain to them that time passes really slowly when they are in school!
15. THE STOMACH FLU
We're not lucky. Every year in December, we catch the stomach flu. Nathan was the first to show symptoms and then, Cookie got sick the very next day.. Let's put things in perspective .. an Elf’s vomit is really not so bad to clean up. They vomit sparkles!
16. SNOW STORM
Coming from the North Pole, Santa’s Elves miss the abundance of snow. Although we get just a little bit, which is more than enough for us, the elves are accustomed to way bigger snowfalls! For the first snowstorm we had, while Cookie was with us, he rushed to shovel our porch entrance. THANK YOU COOKIE!
17. HOUSE SWITCH
Santa's Elves all know each other, but do not necessarily know which house their friends find themselves in. We believe that while he went to shovel the snow the day before, Cookie met one of his friends. In the morning, the children awoke and looked for Cookie everywhere! We eventually gave up because he was nowhere to be found. When we opened the refrigerator, we understood everything! Cookie and his friend pulled a good trick. They switched houses. We had the chance to meet Ketchup, our friends’ (and neighbors’) Elf.
18. KETCHUP PLAYS A TRICK ON US
Oh yes! Even with our neighbor’s Elf, we are not exempt from silly tricks! Ketchup doesn’t seem to enjoy regular milk. He has, to the disgust of the children, colored our milk green. And according to my children, green milk is disgusting!
19. A GOOD BATH AFTER AN ADVENTURE AT THE NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE
After his little 2 day adventure at the neighbor’s house, it was nice to have Cookie back with us! What did he do his first night back? Well, he relaxed in a nice bath!
20. PACKED LUNCH BOXES
I don’t know if Cookie got word of the trick that his friend Ketchup pulled on us, but he thought that the refrigerator would be a good place to play tricks. The next day, when we woke up, we looked for Cookie everywhere but in vain. We eventually gave up our search when we started to get hungry! When we opened the refrigerator, we found Cookie who had gift wrapped the kids’ lunch boxes!
21. BLOCKED DOORS
Or mischievous elf blocked all our bedroom doors during the night. Not only that, he used up all my wrapping tape!
22. POST-IT GALORE!!!
Christmas is just around the corner! I think Cookie is a bit nostalgic. He decided to write the names of the children in post-its in the living room! I can say Cookie will be missed but I will not miss the daily morning clean-up after his messes!
23. ELF PANCAKES
We only have 2 days left with our friend Cookie. The children are a little sad. They try to convince him to stay. But I think Cookie looks forward to Christmas and also to meet up with his friends and Santa. This morning, Cookie prepared us a wonderful breakfast feast! Elf pancakes! YUMMY ... they were delicious!
24. SANTA’S SNACK
Everyone is excited! Today is Christmas Eve! Cookie wants to show us how to welcome Santa, so he prepared Santa’s snacks himself!
THE END OF A BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE
Cookie came into our lives on the night of December 1st and left us silently on the night of December 24th. Thank you for this month filled with magic and wonderful memories. Thanks for making our children laugh and filling their hearts with the magic of Christmas. We will remember our little rascal Elf!
